Our Way Ahead Strategic Plan: Process and Philosophy
Planning Philosophy
This Strategic Plan was created collaboratively by the Hampton Roads Academy community, through a process that invited input from a broad range of stakeholders across all constituencies and roles.
We emerge from this work not only with a plan for the school’s future, but with a deepened understanding of who we are today, a stronger appreciation for the extraordinary strength of our relationships and connections, and a clearer sense of how to make the most of each step in this journey we’ve outlined together.
Process, Methodology, and Acknowledgments
HRA began our inclusive strategic planning process in fall 2025, beginning with discovery conversations that included faculty members, staff members, parents and families, current students, alumni, school leadership, and community partners. These participants, who were generous with their time and candid about their hopes and concerns, helped us to create plan pillars and to determine the initiatives we’ll implement over the life of the plan.
We are deeply grateful to all planning participants at every step for their contributions to this important process. We emerge from the work as a community united in purpose and values, not only prepared for the changes the next five years may hold, but also poised to pursue the evolving, exciting possibilities they will bring.
